DRAGGED BY BOLTING HORSES

Mr. Herbert A. Young, farmer, of Riversdale, Lanriston, Victoria, was killed lately when his foot became caught in the mechanism of a reaping machine and he was dragged for 300 yards. The horses attached to the machine bolted, having apparently been frightened by swarms of grasshoppers. The reaping machine which Mr. Young was driving became jammed. Having made repairs he was about to climb to the driver's seat when the horses bolted. With his foot caught, in the machine lie was dragged for 300 yards before the horses stopped beside a creek; In their bolt the horses dragged Mr. Young over a three-furrow plough which was lying in the paddock.

The accident was seen by Messrs. R. S. Mudford and W. E. Portwinc, who were stooking some distance away. They released Mr. Young's foot from the machine and placed him in a motorcar to convey him to Kviieton, but he died without having regained consciousness. He was one of the most highly respected of the younger farmers in tho district.
