LATE MR. JOHN ROWE

LAST TRIBUTES PAID REPRESENTATIVE FUNERAL Representatives of numerous metropolitan local bodies and sporting clubs attended the funeral of the late Mr. John J*owe at the Wnikaraka Cemetery, Onchunga, yesterday afternoon. The burial service of the Church of England was conducted by Canon >J. Haselden, of Epsom, and the Rev. T. H. C. Partridge, vicar of St. Peter's, Qnehunga. Mr. R. G. Laking, past chief ranger, read the service of the Ancient Order of Foresters, of which body the late Mr. Rowe had been a member for more than 50 years. Messrs. Norman "Wade, C. V. Mark and F. C. Marks, representing the Auckland Trotting Club, Mr. A. O. Glass, of the Auckland Power Board, and Messrs. E. Montgomery and J. W. Hollis acted as pall-bearers.

Among those present were the Hons. T. Bloodworth and E. R. Davis, M.L.C.'s, and Messrs. M. J. Savage and W. J. Jordan, M.P.'s, while local bodies and other organisations represented were: —Auckland Racing Club, Mr. O. Nicholson; Auckland Trotting Club, Messrs. T. J. W. Buxton, C. V. Mark, Norman Wade, F. C. Leighton; Auckland Harbour Board, Mr. A. M. Laing; Auckland Hospital Board, Mr. W. Wallace, and Drs. J. W. Craven and C. E. Maguire; Auckland Transport Board, Messrs. J. A. C. Allum and R. G. Clark; Onehunga Borough Council, the Mayor, Mr. E. Morton, Messrs. A. C. Tonkin and G. H. Keeling, and the town clerk, Mr. H. A. Yockney; Manukau County Council, Messrs. F. M Waters and S. W. House; Manukau Licensing Committee, Messrs. W. H. Gavin, H. R. Mackenzie and E. V. Sutherland; One-hunga-Manukau Chamber of Commerce, Mr. John Pilkington; One Tree Hill Domain Board, Mr. M. H. Wynvard; Auckland Rugby Union, Mr. A. Tilleyj and Onehunga Cricket Association, Messrs. J. E. Green and A. E. Insley, Among others present were Messrs. G. Baildon, F. Mander, W. Blomfield, Robert Wright, R. Buchanan. H. J. Davies, T. H. Geraghty, W. Bruce Smith and J. W. TeedMacklow.

Among a large number of messages of sympathy received by the family were telegrams from the following:— The Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. J. A. Young, the president and representatives of the New Zealand Racing Conference, Wellington, the Aucklnnd Trotting Owners, Trainers and Breeders' Association, the Forbury Park Trotting Club, le Aroha Jockey Club, Avondale Jockey Club, Auckland RaciDg Club, Mount Roskill Road Board, Onehunga Borough Council, One Tree Hill Domain Board, Auckland Hospital Board, the lady superintendents and nursing staffs of the Auckland Hospital and Epsom Infirmary, Onehunga Ladies' Benevolent Society, Carpenters and Joiners' Society, Onehunga Cricket Association, and the Auckland Orphans' Club.
