The New York price for cash is 1 dollar 111 cents. BRITISH EXCHEQUER LATEST WEEKLY RETURNS British Wireless RUGBY, Jan. 8 The Exchequer returns for the past week show that during the current financial year the total ordinary revenue, exclusive of self-balancing revenue, amounted on January 5 to £430,667,802, which was £6,451,568 loss than the amount collected at the corresponding date last year. Expenditure for the same period, exclusive of self-balancing items, was £544,838,030, which exceeded the amount expended at the corresponding date last year by £10,842,330.

British banks announced tho past year's results today. All the "big five" showed increased earnings in 1934 and,dividends in every case were maintained. Of tho three banks whose balancesheets have been published, the Westminster declared a dividend of 18 per cent, the Midland one of 16 per cent and tho National Provincial one of 15 per cent. The third shipment of stock from the East Coast this wook arrived to-day, when 2500 two-tooth ewes were landed from the vessel Pakura from Tolaga Bay. 'J'liey were railed immediately to Morrinsville.

The annual Feildinc stud sheep sale will he held <it the Showgrounds, J'Vilding, next Tuesday. The entry, which is drajvn from the foremost pedigree florks of the Dominion, comprises 178 Southdown and certified. Romney rams.

CARRERAS' ACCOUNTS

Profits of Carreras, Limited. British tobacco manufacturers, after providing for all charges, amounted for the year ended October .31 to £BO-1,942, against £827,143 in the previous year. The dividend on the ordinary capital is 35 per cent, an unchanged rate.

BRITISH WAR LOAN
