Jan. 4 The eighth round of the Centenary chess championship yesterday resulted as follows: — Koshnitzky defeated Green, Fillian defeated Hynd, Purdy defeated Coultas, Condon defeated Greenfield, Theirjung defeated Crowl, Watson defeated Goldstein, Hastings defeated Lampa rter. The winners' final was won by Boyles, Australian champion, who defeated Armstrong and Egan in the semi-finals. Now he has to play the winner of the loser's final.
