AFFLICTED CEYLON
MALARIA AND FLOODS PRINCE HENRY'S SYMPATHY COLOMBO, Dec. 21 Malaria has been responsible for the deaths of 2000 people in Ceylon. The price of quinine has trebled, and five months' supply was issued in 20 days. Thousands of pounds' worth has been rushed from India, Java and England. The north-western province faces a food shortage owing to floods and a caterpillar plague succeeding a prolonged drought. Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester, has cabled his sympathy.
