WAITEMATA CLUB'S CARNIVAL DECLARATION OF HANDICAPS The first swimming carnival promoted on Christmas Day for several years will bo held in the Tepid Baths to-morrow afternoon by the Waitorn ata Amateur Swimming and Lifesaving club, which will decide a number of interesting event®. Auckland's champion swimmers will compete in the 100 yds. and 440 yds. open handicaps, and in the 100 yds. ladies' handicap. These are official championship distances, and, in view of tho fact that the leading competitors have shown good form lately, exceptionally fast times are anticipated. The Becond: annual contest for tho Walmsley Shield, the present holder of which ie tho Wttitemata Club, will also bo swum, several clubs having entered strong teams.
