RIFLE SHOOTING
AUCKLAND CITY CLUB A special coached teams match for a trophy presented by Mr, K. Chivies was arranged by tho Auckland City Defence Rifle Club for last Saturday, but the conditions were not suitable for coaching, as there was no mirage, and it was impossible to make fine adjustments on the flairs alone. Occasional light showers made sighting difficult and most of tho scores were below the average. A notable exception was G, G. Kelly, who shot brilliantly at all three ranges. Ho won the trophy very easily. Conditions were two optional "sighters" nnd seven shota at three, fivu and tax hundred yards. Scores off the rifles wore:—G. G. Kelly, 32, 34, 35—101; S. C. Harris, 24, 31, 26—81; T. Nealis. 23. 29,- 22—74; F. Clark. 17, 27, 22—66; Howie, 28. 21, 16-65. The championship will be continued at the short ranges on Saturday week.
