PIGEON FLYING
HIKURANGI CLUB'S RACE [from our own correspondent] WIIANGAREI. Saturday Some excellent limes wore registered by birds in the Hikurnnpi Homing Pigeon Club's rnco from Christclnirch, an airline distance ot approximately s<!o miles. This was the first occasion on which the Christ-ohurch-Hikurangi distance had been flown in the one day, the winning bird covering 1045yda per minute. Tta winner annexed the cup donated by Sir Ooorge Eliot. Results:—Mr. K. Hazell's Little Lady. 1: Mr. G. Dsivies' Endurance, 2: Mr. "VV. Griffiths' cut runt, £. This was tho last race in the aeries for the old-bird overage trophy, which has been won by Mr., G. Davies.
