RELIEF FOR WIDOW
AN INCREASED ANNUITY SETTLEMENT ARRANGED [from our own* correspondent] HAMILTON. Thursday A settlement was reached by counsel in connection with a claim made in the Supreme Court by Mrs. Florence Harriett Rutland, widow, of Morrinsville, for further relief under the will of her late husband, Walter George Rutfand, farmer, Tauranga. The defendants to the claim were the Public Trustee and six members of the family. To-day Mr. Johnson, for Mrs. Rutland, stated that the parties had agreed to ti settlement, under the terms of which plaintiff was to receive an annuity of £75 as from August 1, 1931, and subject to the annuity being paid plaintiff surrendered her share in the body of the estate, which was to be divided among the remaining beneficiaries in the existing proportions. The parties were to pay their own costs, except the Public Trustee, who was to receive £5 5s and disbursements. Mr. Trapski agreed to the arrangement on behalf of the family. Mr. Johnson mentioned that the settlement meant that Mrs. Rutland's annuity was being increased on condition she surrendered her share in the estate. Mr. Justice Herdman, who presided, issued an order in terms of the settlement arranged.
