GOLD MINERS' WAGES
INCREASE AT KALGOORLIE ADDITIONAL 8s A WEEK (Received December 12. 10.20 p.m.) KALGOORLIE. Dec. 12 A new award is imminent for miners, who are receiving an increase of 8s a week. The increase will add about £I6OO a week to the wanes bill of the Golden Mile mine, where 4000 are employed, and about £BOO a week to the Lake View and Star Company, reducing its monthly profit from £SOOO. to £3200. The hours of surface workers are being reduced from 48 to 44, which will add £650 to the cost of production.
