OBITUARY

MR. C. K. WILSON [BY TELEGRAPH —FHESS ASSOCIATION ] TE KUITI, Monday The death took place early this morning of Mr. Charles Kendall Wilson, one of the best-known residents of the King Country. Born in Sydney, ho came to New Zealand at the age of 16 with his parents. For a number of years lie farmed at Levin. For 18 years ho was West Coast manager for Abraham, and Williams, Limited, and 011 coming to the King Country in 1910 fanned in Piopio. He represented the Waitomo electorate in 1911-14, was a member of the Meat Board from 1923 until 1931, and was a member of the Waitomo County Council for over 20 years." MR. J. J. GILFEDDER The death has occurred of a 'wellknown Southland farmer, Mr. John James Gilfedder, of Ono Tree Point, Invercargill. Mr. Gilfedder, who was born in the district, was, the second of the five sons of the late Mr. Peter Gilfedder, one of the early settlers of Southland, who took rip land there in the 'sixties. Mr. J. J. Gilfedder took a prominent part in all local affairs. He was chairman of the Rimu School Committee, a member of the School Committees' Association, and chairman of the Waihopai River Board. As a young man he was a keen athlete, and the holder of championship medals. He maintained an interest in sport and later occupied various offices with athletic clubs. Mr. Gilfedder was also a justice of the peace. Ho was prominent in politics as a Liberal, and was chairman of the committee in his district of the Awartia electorate when Sir Joseph Ward held the seat. Moro recently ho led the local supporters of the present member, Mr. P. A. do la Per relic. Mr. Gilfedder leaves a widow and ono daughter. Mrs. S. Horan, of Jer vois Road, Ponsonby, is a sister, and there arc three brothers, Mr. M Gilfedder, until recently Judge of the Native Land Court, Wellington, and for some years Judge in North Auckland; Mr. Thomas Gilfedder, a former teacher under the Southland Education Board; and Mr. T. P. Gilfedder, J.P., of Dovonport, ex-registrar of pensions, Auckland.
