Nov. 17 "The economic situation in the Saar daily becomes worse," s&ys a petition from the Saar Chamber of Commerce, submitted to the League of Nations by Mr. G. G. Knox, the Governing Commissioner. The petition states that grave difficulties are being experienced in the Franco-German clearing arrangements. Many French firms have refused to grant further credit to their customers in the Saar. The Governing Commission's accompanying Note states that it has mada every effort to retain foreign confidence in the Saar, and adds that a dangerous situation can be averted only if foreign investors can be assured of the stable government of the territory. M. Aloise, president of the Saar Committee, has intimated that the work in connection with the financial aspects of the Saar is not sufficiently advanced to enable a meeting to be held on November 21. He has requested its postponement and probably it will be held on November 24. ACTIVITIES OF NAZIS AFFRONT TO COMMISSION LEAGUE ASKED TO ACT SAARBRUCKEN, Nov. 16 The Governing Commission of the Saar has asked the Supreme Tribunal to proceed against Jacob Pirro, Herman Roechling, Pieter-Kiefre, also Lenacher and Smelzer, five German front leaders who signed the recent attack on the chairman of the commission; Mr. G.
