RAMS AND A BULL

ANIMALS AT ABATTOIRS A letter which alleged that rams were killed at the Wellington city abattoirs and that the carcases were allowed to pass into the city was read by Mr. R. Semple, M.P., at the last meeting of the Wellington City Council. Mr. Semple said that an old bull was standing in the yard at the abattoirs waiting to be killed shortly. The inference was that ho would follonthe same route as the rams. lie believed that the council had 110 legal right to stop the killing of rams, and the decision whether the animals were fit for food lay with the Governmentstock inspector. Mr. C. H. Chapman, M.P., said that if the council would give the Abattoirs Committee a definite instruction not to allow rams to be killed, the committee would see that it was carried out.
