KEAS AND SHEEP
QUESTION OF DAMAGE The Canterbury Slioepownors' Federation has received a letter enclosing a copy of a bulletin issued by the New Zealand Native Bird Protection Society, containing an article denying allegations of damage to sheep by koas, and suggesting that high country runholders were not justified in the destruction of the birds. The secretary of the union Mas authorised to write to the society forwarding photographs <sl sheep suffering various kinds ol injury by keas, with copies of letters received from high-country runholders giving particulars of heavy losses from this cause. Indignation was expressed at. tho suggestions contained in the Bird Protection Society's pamphlet which, it. was stated, were calculated to mislead public opinion.
