DEATH OF CHIEFTAINESS
WIKITORIA TE NGAHUE [by telegiuph—own correspondent] THAMES, "Wednesday The death occurred early this morning of Wikitoria Te Ngahue. better known as Wao, at the age of 78. She was the wife of the late Mare Teretiu, of Kirikiri, and was chicftainess of the Ngatimaru tribe. Tn addition, she was connected with the sub-tribes Ngatiwhanannga Ngatiteaute and Ngatinaunau. She was a daughter of the late Ern Te Ngahue, of Ngatimari, who was connected with the Thames goldfields in the early days and owned lands at Tararu Mrs. Te Ngahue, who was well known and respected hv Europeans and Maoris throughout the Thames district, is survived by one son, Te Ngahue (John) Murray, of Kirikiri, and two daughters, Auinihi (Mabel) Gregory, of Kirikiri, and Hera (Sarah) Murray, of Thames. There are 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
