In the unavoidable absence of the president, the vice-president. Mr. G. Jack, presented the trophies won in the com. petitions played during the jew months since the formation of the club. It was reported that since inaugurated the club had steadily increased in membership and popularity, and there had been over 50 playing members enrolled. The nine holes course had been considerably improved. and the existence of natural hazards had lent zest te the game. Mr. Jack said it wnt honed that *he further improvements intended would provide a course which would test the ability of experienced golfers. WHANGAREI LADIES' CLUB [feosi our trim correspondent] WHANGAREI, Saturday The Whangsrei Ladies' Golf Club held an open day tournament on the Mount Denby links yesterday, when between 40 and 50 players took part, including representative* from the Wham Valley and Dargaville Ladies' Cluba. The weather waa fine, with a cold south-westerly wind blowing, and the links were in splendid order. The s trophy for the best gross score was won by Mrs. Reynolds (Whangarei), with a score of 83. Other good cards were:—Mrs. Nolan. S5: Mrs. Glanville, 67; Miss J, Stewart (Whao Valley), 88. A medal round waa also played in the morning- and was won by Miss J. Stewart with a score of 83, 18—70. Other good score# wore:—Mrs. Sheen. OS, 28—70; Mrs. Nolan. 83. 13—72; Mrs. Younger, 91, IS—73; Mra. Weaver. 106. 33—73. In tho afternoon a bogey match was played and was won by Miss E. Johnson, all square. The next best were:—Mra. Tresidder. 1 down; Miss Harding (Darga* villc), 2 down; Mrs. Glanville. Mrs. Nolan, Mrs. Lynch, Mis* Syraes. 4 down. The president. Mrs. J.
