MOTH AEROPLANES
SIX FOR NEW ZEALAND SIR JAMES PARR ORDERS LONDON', Oct. 18 The High Commissioner for New Zealand, Sir James. Parr, has ordered, on behalf of the Dominion, six standard Moth aeroplanes from the De Havilland Company. The machines will be fitted with Gipsy engines of 130 horse-power each.
Provision was mads in the New Zealand estimates in August for the sum of £4BOO for the purchase of six new Moth aeroplanes for loan to aero clubs. The amount was included in a vote of £14,600 for civil aviation, other items being £SOOO for surveying, levelling and grading a chain of landing grounds throughout the Dominion, and £4500 for grants to clubs in respect of pupils qualifying for private pilots' licences. The Auckland Aero Club has applied for a new machine to replace ZK-AAL, which was wrecked near Wellington m March. The crash resulted in the death of the president of the club, Mr. E. R. Boucher. The club lias two other Moths on loan from the Government, ZK-AAK and ZK-ACC, one being stationed at Mangere aerodrome and the other at To Rapn, near Hamilton.
