FIRE AT FLAX MILL
VALUABLE MACHINERY LOST TOW SUPPLY AFreCTED [by TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION] FOXTON. Friday A fire occurred in Ross, Rough and Company's hackling sheds and threatened the mill and Hannay's benzine station. Prompt action by the brigade confined the fire to the tow shed. Some valuable machinery was destroyed, and this will affect the supply of prepared tow to plasterers and upholsterers. The fire was caused by the starter of a motor fusing. The plant was insured. BITUMEN IN FLAMES RAILWAY YARDS OUTBREAK The contents of an open boiler containing bitumen boiled over and caught fire in the yards of the Otahuhu railway workshops yesterday inorniug. Tha yard surrounding the boiler was a mass of flame when the Otahuhu Fire Brigade arrived, but a special chemical apparatus was used and extinguished the outbreak without difficulty, Littla damage was caused.
