HISTORIC STONE
ij RELICS FOR CHRISTCHURCH A stone taken from the Glastonbury Church in Somersetshire, has been secured for the Ohristchurch Cathedral by Mr. John Booth, who is at present visiting Britain. Bishop West-Watson, presiding at the opening of the Anglican Synod in Christctsirch, said that he had received advice from Mr. Booth of the shipment, of the stone for the cathedral. Mr. Booth was also endeavouring to arrange for other relics, especially from Jerusalem. Glastonbury is a most historic borough. It is claimed that it was to Glastonbury that Joseph of Arimathea came bearing the Holy Grail and thero founded the first Christian Church in Britain. The main ruin of early churches and abbeys was purchased by the Bishop of Bath and Wells in 1907 and became the property of the Church of England/ in 11909. In 1914 a beginning was made with a scheme for making Glastonbury a home of legendary drama.
