"LITTLE DORRIT" FILM
" Little Dorrit," a German-made film based on Dickens' novel, was presented for the first time in Germany recently at a Berlin west-end cinema. Its world premiere took place in Zurich. Lt was well received by the Berlin Press, which was unanimous in praising both acting and atmosphere. The works of Dickens have always been well-known in Germany.
Miss Anny Ondra, the wife of the German boxer, Max Schmeling, takes the title role. One critic suggests that the scenario writer cut the role to suit Miss Ondra, who is usually cast in a comic part. One film critic says that " Charles Dickens himself would have chuckled at this film."
