HIGH LAMB PERCENTAGES
Although there is a fair number of early lambs in South Canterbury the lambing season will not commence in earnest until next month, which is fortunate in view of the present cold spell of weather. On those farms where there are early lambs the percentages have been particularly high. A small flock of ewes, owned by Mr. G. Hancox, of Temuka, returned a percentage of 200. each ewe giving birth to twins but two. and of these one had triplets and the other a single lamb. In keeping with the reports from other districts there has been a large number of freak births and growths. On Mr. r. W. Tarbotton's property at Temuka. two English Leicester lambs, weighing 141b. and 1141 b. respectively, were born.
