BANKRUPTCY MATTERS

SUPREME COURT SITTING Bankruptcy matters were dealt with in the Supreme Court yesterday by Mr. Justice Herdman. An application for discharge from bankruptcy was made by Victor Johneon, of Auckland, motor panel beater (Mr. Adams). In answer to a question hv His Honor, the official assignee, Mr. A. W. Watters. said he did not suggest that bankrupt did not keep proper books prior to his bankruptcy, but that bankrupt toward the end incurred debts without a reasonable prospect of being able to meet them. He thought bankrupt was an honest man but had failed to appreciate his position. He did not oppose the application. Mr. Adams said the applicant was a highly skilled tradesman and had relied on a book-keeper to attend to his books. When he realised his position he consulted hi.f solicitor and his bankruptcy followed.

His Honor granted the discharge. Mabel McGregor, of Auckland, cafe proprietress, was adjudicated bankrupt.
