PENSIONS FOR CLERGY
A NOTABLE BEQUEST The bequest of the late Mrs. BullockWebster for the purpose of providing retiring pensions for the clergy of the Christchurch Anglican diocese, will yield over £50,000 * after tho payment of death duties, Bishop West-Watson informed the Anglican Synod in his opening address. He pointed out that the benefaction would supplement the work that had been done to establish a pension fund in the diocese. "Not long ago Mr. E. G. Hong told us in Synod that we needed £20.000 more to make our fund what it should be. but the depression prevented any appeal being made," said the bishop. "Now, by this bequest, after death duties have been paid off, the diocese benefits to the extent of over £50,000."
