FOOTBALL TRANSFERS

AUCKLANDERS INVOLVED DISTRIBUTION OF £2OO FEE The question of the transfers of R. Hardgrave and L. Schultz, two Auckland players, who are leaving by the Tainui early this morning to play under engagement with York Club in England. was discussed at last evening's meeting of the Auckland Rugby League, when formal approval was granted. The chairman, Mr. G. Grey Campbell, however, said that the most important point was the distribution of the transfer fee for each player of £2OO, which must be paid by the York Club before their contract can be finalised. Mr. Campbell expressed the opinion that the New Zealand Rugby League should be asked to distribute the fee. In answer to a question, the chairman said he thought the Auckland League was justly entitled to a considerable portion of the transfer fee. The New Zealand League was only the controlling body, and he hoped the loss to the Auckland League and the clubs concerned Avould receive compensation. The matter was submitted to the New Zealand League for a report.
