SALVATION ARMY

SUCCESSFUL PAGEANT There were varied and spectacular items on the programme presented at a pageant produced in the Scots Hall last night by the Salvation Army. Colonel A. Orsborn, secretary of the Salvation Army in New Zealand, presided over a V'arge attendance. Colonel Orsborn gave a brief address on the work of the Salvation Army and referred to the appointment of GeneralElect Evangeline Booth, who, he said, was well suited for the position. The items were mainly tableau effects representing the many phases of the work of the Army. Several songs and choruses were well rendered by girls from the Grange Orphanage, while a selection, "Adoration," by the Congress Hall Band proved very popular. The march past and drill of units of the Life Saving Guards was very impressive and received enthusiastic an pi a use. The proceeds of the concert will be aevoted to the self-denial fund.
