MORE CABIN SPACE CHILLED BEEF STORAGE \ Since her lasit visit to New Zealand, the Shaw, Savill and Albion* liner Taraa"roa, which arrived from London and Southampton yetsterday afternoon, has undergone an extensive relit. The work, which was carried out at Glasgow, includes general jiainting and redecorating and the provision of new state- j rooms and public rooms, a (gymnasium j «and space for the storage of chilled beef. New quarters have been provided for the engineers, and the accommodation on the beat deck previously occupied by them, has been converted into 22 new single-berth cabins, well equipped and furnished in modern style. Thei 'former verandah cafe has been closed in and further cabin accommodation provided there, while a new verandah cafe has been provided on the boat deck. The space above this h»s been .extended and now forms a convenient sun deck. The gymnasium is fitted out with a .rowing machine, mechanical horse and other modern equipment, while forward a new sitting room has been provided. This is panelled in light-toned woods and a novel lighting scheme gives a decidedly pleasing effect. Two compartments in one of the holds ha.ve been altered so as to allow the carriage of chilled beef. - The Mataroa, which is scheduled to leave Southampton on November 2 for Auckland, is undergoing a similar refit while she is in England.
