JEWELLERY THEFT

REMAND OF SUSPECTS HEARING ON THURSDAY The three persons who were arrested on premises where the polico took possession of a largo quantity of jewellery, alleged to have been stolen from Mr. James Pascoc's shop, in Karangaliape Road, recently, appeared on remand in tho Polico Court on Saturday before Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M. Hilda Jackson. a red _ 33, domestic, was charged with receiving jewellery valued at £IOOO, knowing it to have been dishonestly obtained. James McQuoid, aged 25, blacksmith and butcher, was charged with receiving from Jackson a gold watch valued at £5, knowing it to have been .dishonestly obtained. Samuel Jamieson McKee, aged 23. labourer, was charged with being an idle and disorderly person, having insufficient lawful means of support. Mr. Sullivan appeared for Jackson and McQuoid and Mr. Matthews for McKee. Applications for remands until Thursday were grantckl in all three cases, Inspector Edwards saying it was expected the police would be ready to proceed with the case on that day. Bail was renewed.
