WHANGAREI INTERESTS
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE [from our own correspondent] WHANGAREI, Saturday Tho Whangarei Chamber of Commerce at its meeting last evening decided to resign immediately from the Associated Chambers of Commerce of New Zealand, s.nd that no payment of levies be made. This decision arose from the association's action in making an additional levy of Is 3d a member. The decision of the chamber means that no portion of the total levy of 3s 9d a member over the past 12 months will bo paid. It was decided to approach other interested bodies to effect a joint guarantee of £lO with the post office for the purpose of having a slot telephone booth erected at Kensington Park, which is the motorists' camping ground. A further resolution was carried supporting tho Farmers' Union in its request to the Railway Department for a "farmers' train" once a week from Kaikoho or Kawakawa to Whangarei. The idea is to have the south-bound train running earlier once a week so as to provide extra time in Whangarei before the return train in tho afternoon.
