OPPERIMAN'S BEATEN 457 MILES IN 24 HOURS LONDON, Oct. 5 An English racing cyclist named Southall rode a distance of 457 miles in 24 hours, beating Hubert Opperman's world record by 15i miles. Southall experienced numerous minor delays, including nine punctures. The Australian's record was set up in July in the course of a rule trom Land's End to John o' Groats (886 miles) and south again, for a record ride of 1000 miles in three days.
