ROYAL FAMILY
SOME INTIMATE STORIES PRINCE OF WALES AS CHILD LONDON, Sept. 27 Mrs. Gertrude Massey, miniature painter, in her book, " Kings, Commoners and Me," tells some delightful stories of the Royal Family. King Edward, she says, commissioned her to paint miniatures of his grandchildren to present to King George and Queen Mary on their return from their world tour. Prince Edward (now Prince o? Wales and then aged six) was the most interesting child 1 she ever met. Once he asked her if any Kings or Queens were in heaven, or, when one was an angel, was everybody equal? Mrs. Massey, who was busily . working, replied, "Yes. All are equal." The Prince pondered, and then replied, "I think that is quite right, but great-granny (Queen Victoria) won't like it." The Prince of Wales, after visiting King Edward, who was convalescent after appendicitis, said in a disappointed tone, "They didn't show me the baby." Previously, whenever he visited a sick room a nurse was present and he was shown a baby.
