NEW ZEALAND WINNERS M TOTAL OF £14',0130 INVOLVED If £SOO TC) AUCKLANDERS 1 LARGE AMOUNTS IN SOUTH The first, third, sixth and ninth prizes, of a total alue of £14.,000, in a consultation drawn at Hobart, Tag.' mania, yesterday, under Government supervision, were won by New Zealanders, according to advice received in Auckland. The first prize of £12,000 was won by ticket number 160475, care of J.D., Wairoa. The third pme of £1.250 was won by Interest Syndicate, care of Mrs. M. 8., Sherbourne Street, S>t. Albans, Christchurch, with ticket number 27631. An Auckland group, the Patience Wins Syndicate, care of Mr. J. G. May, 57 Cromwell Read, Mount Eden, won the sixth prize of £SOO with ticket number 171893. The ticket which won the ninth prize '' of £250 was number 180881, and was held by the Three Stiffies Syndicate, care of Mrs. W. R., Adelaide Road South, Wellington. In addition to Mr. May the othermembers of the Patience Wins Syndicate are Mrs. May, Miss J. Rattray, of 7 Oaklands Road, Mount Eden, Mr,, G. Smith, an employee of the Texaii Oil Company, Mr. G. Ferguson, of Ladies' Mile, Remuera, and Mr. Ferguson's small son Bruce. "I dreamed hist night that I had been robbed and thi?. morning told my family that was a good omen," said Mr. May. "I have been subscribing weekly to the consultation for years, but have won only small prizes of £5 before." Mr. May is a motor mechanic practising on hiis own account, whije Misii Rattray is one of the proprietors ole Ann's Pantry, Mount Eden. . The ticket was held in the name of Mrs. Mary Baxter, 42 Shgrbournet Street, St. Albans. When Mrs. Baxter was told of her good fortune this evening she at first refused to beiieve il w but when the number was quoted to her and was found to correspond with that number of her ticket, she began to believe, but was naturally rather excited over her luck. Mrs. Baxter, when she ab ' last realised she was over £3OO richer, said that she could very well do with the money, because she had suffered a good deal! during the depression. Mrs. Baxter is an elderly woman and lives with her son and daughter. Site has made no plans as to how to spend the money,, and intends to make none.
