SCHOOL FOR ATHLETES
—*» PROJECT IN ENGLAND Field events in English athletics have long languished below the standard set and maintained on the Continent and in the United States. In a attempt to remedy this defect the Amateur Athletic Association organised a summer school at Loughborough. So great was the response to this pioneer effort that the grounds of Loughborough College were crowded for the inauguration. Captain F. A. M. Webster, the organiser, welcomed from all parts of England students who stayed in residence at the first English University of Athletics for a fortnight. Captain Webster had the assistance of a- number of pro-, minent athletes.
