NAPIER'S DEVELOPMENT
BEAUTIFYING THE PARADE CARNIVAL, IN DECEMBER [BY TELEGRATH— PRESS ASSOCIATION] NAPIER, Tuesday Having the support of the Thirty Thousand Club and other organisations, the Napier City Council last night decided to complete the central feature of the Marin© Parade beautifying scheme, as first portion of a major plan which it is proposed to carry out during the next 23 years. The present work, which is to cost £1(100, will be complete by Chris.tmas. The council also decided to conduct a carnival, beginning en the arrival of ;the Duke oi Gloucester on December 19, and marking als;o the jubilee of Napier, which actually falls at the end of November. The carnival will extend until Boxing Day. Tho council approved plans for the development of the area of 478 acres leased from the Harbour Board and brought into the borough for the purpose of extending residential areas. The final confirmation by the Harbour Board is awaited.
