MR. LYONS' CABINET
OFFER TO COUNTRY PARTY CO-OPERATION DESIRED HOBART, Sept. 29 The Prime Minister, Mr. J. A. Lyons, stated to-day that he had extended an invitation to the Country Party through Dr. Earle Page, to undertake an active share of the responsibility for stable government of the Commonwealth by accepting iwo full portfolios and one assistant Ministership in the new Cabinet. Mr. Lyons added that he a'dvised Dr. Earle Page that he would value the association of the Country Party in the Government, and expressed his earnest hope that it would see its way to accept his offer. A message from Melbourne states that the United Australia Party's group of three members in the Senate has been elected in Victoria. The successful candidates are:—Major-General Brand, Mr. W. G. Gibson and Mr. J. W. Leckie.
