CHARGES OF ASSAULT FINES ON TWO OFFENDERS An incident in a city restaurant on Friday evening led to the appearance in the Police Court on Saturday of a tailor, "William Henry *.Fra:ser, aged 29 (Mr. Aekins), who plcAled guilty to assaulting tho restauranw keeper, Mato Borich. Inspector Edwards said that accused and two other men had made themselves objectionable by their behaviour, and when taken to the kitchen accused had struck tho proprietor and broken crockery and caused other damage. Ho was under the influence of liquor. A fiup of L2 was imposed by Mr. W. R. MeKcan, S.M., and accused was ordeml to make restitution of tho damage caused. Charges of drunkenness and assault were admitted by a farmer. Rangi Wall, aged 24. Inspector Edwards said that at 7 p.m. on Friday tho complainant, Herbert Frederick Barnett, was standing outnido His Majesty's Areado when accused went up to him and asked whoso side he was on. "When complainant said ho was on no one's side, accused said he was from Scotland Yard and struck him. Accused had never been before the Court before. Ho was fined 5s for drunkenness and £2 for assault, in default seven days' imprisonment.
