PRIZES IN JOURNALISM
SOUTH ISLAND SUCCESSES [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Saturday Tho results of the seventh annual competition in practical journalism conducted under the auspices of tho Now Zealand Journalists' Association were announced at the annual conference of tho association in Wellington to-day. The awards wore as follows: —Mr. W. S. Noble, of the Otago Daily Times, Dunedin, 1; Mr. K. Green, of the Christehurch Times, 2; and Mr. G. B. Williams, of tho Press, Christehurch, 3. The judges, Professor Arnold Wall, of Christehurch, emeritus professor of English in tho University of New Zealand, and Mr. R. 11. Melville, of Auckland, said the ontries wore nearly all of an excellent journalistio standard, and tho competitors as a body were to bo congratulated on the high quality of their work. Many matters of interest to tho profession were discussed at the conference, which was attended by representatives from tho Auckland, Wellington, Christehurch and Dunedin branches of the association. It was decided that Auckland should remain the association's headquarters. Tho following officers were elected: —President, Mr. A. Kenner; vice-president, Mr. A. F. Grace; lion, secretary, Mr. G. L. Stanbrook.
