WOMEN'S CRICKET
ENTHUSIASTIC SUPPORT The sixth annual meeting of the Auckland Women's Cricket Association was held on Tuesda® evening, when there was a greatly increased number of club representatives present. The annual report showed that the association was in a favourable position, and the increased support augured well for the coming season. The formation of the New Zealand Women's Cricket Council was reported, and discussion took place on the question of representative matches. An invitation had been received from the Australian Women's Cricket Council to send a team to compete in the Melbourne Centenary games, but lack of finance had prevented this. The forthcoming visit of the All England Women's XI. was also discussed.
The question of a suitable playing uniform, both for individual clubs and for the Auckland representative team, caused a lengthy discussion. It was finally decided to leave this matter in the hands of the incoming executive. It was reported that the Ladies' Hockey Association's cricket team had won the club championship for the past season, and that Miss G. Lowe with 18.1 (of the same club) was the winner of the cricket bat presented by Mr. J. Roberts for the highest batting average. The retiring president, Mr. E. C. Beale, did not soek re-election, stating that he considered it in the best interests of the association if the personnel of the officers and executive consisted entirely of women if possible. The election of officers for the forthcoming season resulted as follows: — Patroness, The Mayoress, Mrs. Hutchison; president, Miss P. Howard Dawson; vice-nresidents, Mrs. Bruce Mackenzie, Dr. ±l. J. C. Wilkie, Miss ? A. Twiname, Mr. A. Kohn; hon. secretary, Miss E. Page: hon. treasurer, Miss M. Hutton Whitelaw; hon. auditor, Mr. N. H. E. Hockin; delegate to Auckland Cricket Association, Miss M. Hutton Whitelaw.
