THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE STEADY BUYING SUPPORT The strength of leading investments "was well maintained on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday and, although turnover was not quite so widely distributed, the volume of business was steady.

Supplies of 1919 and 1955 4 per cent Government stock had sale at firmer levels without satisfying the demand. After a current price transaction in 1949's at £lll, further business was done at £lll 2s 6d, while in 1955 a full rise of 12s 6d was recorded in transactions at £ll2 15s and £ll2 17s Cd. Buyers continued their support for other issues at steady to firm levels without result In miscellaneous delienttiros Auckland Gas, 1935, 6J per cents, were done at a rise of 10s to £lO4.

Levels in'the banks group showed a tendency to slacken. Dealing was again confined to Reserve Banks, three parcels of wL'<-h were secured unchanged at £6 9s, at which price there was inquiry for more. Support for insurances was maintained at the previous day's firm levels with the exception of an easing in Australian Provincials at the close. .New Zealands were done again at their record price of 68s 6d. Unchanged rates also existed for Farmers' Aucticneerings, £5 paid, on sale at 80s. Two parcels of Auckland Gas were released Id lower at 26s 3d. Devonport (Ferries were strong and business at/ 24s represented a rise of Is 6d on previous dealing. Activity in timbers was, marked. Nationals continued to make progress, changing hands Is higher at 14s 6d. Kauris eased 6d to southern levels at 19s 9d.and Taupo-Totaras fell 2d in a transaction at 6s 7d. / Miscellaneous investments, for which there was inquiry over a wide range, were strongly held. Consolidated Bricks, however, were secured Id cheaper at 10s 9d, and Dunlop-Perdriaus 6haded 4d on sale at 19s lOd.

BRITISH WAR LOAN British Wireless RUGBY, Sept. 25 War loan, 3J per cent, is quoted to-day at £lO5 13s 9dj compared with £lO5 12s 6d yesterday. •
