OBITUARY

MR. J. B. MASSEY The death occurred on Tuesday of Mr. James Branton Massey, of Church Street, Ponsonby, aged 78 years. Mr. Massey was a well-known boilermaker, being tho founder of the firm of Massey Brothers. Ho was born in Buckinghamshire, England, and came to New Zealand with his parents in the ship Andrew Jackson in 1865. For many years he was an enthusiastic Freemason, and at the time of his death was oue of the oldest past masters of Lodge Auckland, No. 87, N.Z.C. He is survived by two sons, Mr. P. Massey and Mr. C. Massey, and one daughter, Mrs. E. Tronson, of Auckland.

MRS. JESSIE SOW The death has occurred at Mangere of Mrs. Jessie Gow, widow of the late Mr. Nathaniel Gow, at tho age of 77 years. Mrs. Gow was born in Auckland iind was a daughter of the late Captain John Woods, a well-known mariner in Auckland's «>arly days. Mr. and Mrs. Gow were married in the Alexandra Street Primitive Methodist Church and resided for about 25 years at Mercury Bay, where Mr. Gow was chairman of the County Council and the Hospital Board. Returning to Auckland over 30 years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Gow resided at Mount Eden, where Mr. Grow was closely associated with the Mount Eden Congregational Church. The sons are Messrs. Ralph Gow, of Sydney, John Gow, of Mangere, and George and Ray Gow, of Auckland. Mrs. F. Meikle, of Tauranga, is the only daughter. There are eight grandchildren. The interment took place at the Waikaraka Cemetery, Onehunga.

HE. A. 0. LEAOH [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON. Wednesday The death has occurred of Mr. Alfred Osborne Leach, secretary of the War Relief Association, Wellington. Mr. Leach served with the Imperial Forces in the South African War and held commissioned rank. He had been secretary of tho War Relief Association for the past 18 years, and was associated with a number of patriotio movements and schemes for the assistance of returned soldiers. He is survived by his wife.
