THE WAITAKI DAM

Wednesday The final stage of the completion of the big dam at the Waitaki power station site is being undertaken to-day, and the closing of the last of the temporary sluiceways is in progress. After these are closed the river will flow through two big permanent sluiceways until the lake is to be filled, which should be very soon. Heavy rain has fallen since Monday, but the Waitaki River is not rising appreciably.
