KARACHI sensation HINDU FATALLY STABBED MAHOMMEDANS' CRIME VICTIM'S BOOK OFFENDS By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received September 21, 8.35 p.m.) CALCUTTA. Sept. 21 A young Sind Hindu author's attack on Mahomet in a recent book called "Islamic History 1 ' had a tragic sequel in the Cotirt of the Judicial Commissioner, Karachi, yesterday. The author, Maharaj Nathuram, recently was sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment with hard labour by a sessions Judge at Hyderabad for blasphemous allusions to the Prophet in his book. Nathuram yesterday was waiting in Court for the hearing of his appeal against the sentence wherj three Pathans, who are Mahommedans, sitting near him, rushed at Nathuram.
Two of the Pathans held Nathuram while the other repeatedly stabbed him. The victim was sent to hospital, where he died. The Court was adjourned amid confusion and two of the attackers were arrested. ' The crime created a sensation in the city, where Hindus' shops were closed as a mark of respect to deceased, whose body was carried to the cremation ground escorted by a vast crowd.
