AID FOR INJURED
HOCKEY PLAYERS' SERVICES AUSTRALIAN MEDICAL STUDENTS When the Rotorua express crashed ? into a motor-car at a level crossing at Pokeno last Monday, two medical students who were members of the touring Australian hockey team, Messrs. M. Stening and A. C. Leggett, gave assistance with the three people injured. Assisted by Dr. A. T. Begg, of Pukekohe, and two nurses who were also on the train, they took charge and looked after the injured until the train reached Frankton. v S
At the commencement of the game against Piako the following telegram from relatives of those injured was received on the ground:—"Doctors Australian hockey team. Patients show slight improvement. Owe their lives to you. Our loving and grateful thanks to 3'ou all." Both men are students at the Sydney University. Stening hopes to complete his course next year and Leggett a year later. During the tour" they were frequently called upon to make use of their knowledge when players received minor injuries during matches and when members of the team were attacked by influenza in the South Island they wer* kept busy attending to them.
