TE AROHA AMBULANCE
NEW VEHICLE WANTED EFFORT TO RAISE FUNDS [from our own correspondent] TE AROHA. Thursday The question of replacing the present. St. John ambulance with a vehicle of more modern design was considered at a meeting at which Dr. W. R. Lawrence presided. It was stated that the present ambulance was 12 years old, and although in good order, it was more or less out-of-date. Two years ago a public appeal was made, and £137 was received. At present there was £2OO on deposit. The St. John Ambulance Association, Auckland, had a speciallybuilt ambulance of the very latest design, which it was offering for sale. In order to -effect the purchase another £IOO would be required.
It was decided to form a committee for the purpose of raising the necessary funds. Jt was dcided to hold a hall on October 16 and to make an application to the Borough Council to hold a street collection on October 13.
