INCREASED DEMAND
GAS AND MACHINE-GUNS EFFECT OF AMERICAN STRIKE (Received September 19, 5.85 p.m.) WASHINGTON. Bept. 18 The president of the Federal Laboratories Company, of Pittsburgh, manufacturers of tear gas and machine-guns, informed the Munitions Investigating Committee of the Senate to-day that his firm's business had been augmented 5 to 10 per cent since the textile strike began. , Witness said his company did considerable industrial business and when calls came from industrial plants they were usually rush orders. Mr. H. T. Bone, a member of the committee, asked what effect gas would have on hungry, physically weak St Witness: Far less than lead bullets. Mr. Bone (dryly).: I understand that.
