Strong support was maintained ior other issues, without success. Activity in New South Wales at improving figures was the feature of banks. Deaimg opened at £o2 7s (id and, closing at £bVi 15s, showed a gain of 15s on the last previous transaction. New Zeatands also moved favourably in two sales 2d dearer at 48s 2d. Reserve Banks were steady and Commercials of Australia easier. Fewer supplies' of insurance shares were available, in spite of firm to stronger support. Nationals were secured unchanged at 20s 3d. Interest in Farmers' Auctioneermgs was continued, and resulted in business in £5 paids at 83s, a rise of 3s. The shares paid to £1 were done at 12s. Goldsbrough-Morts were done unaltered at 30s, with subsequent quotations firmer than those of the previous day. An easing of 4d took place in Westport-Stockton coal, preference, but the ordinary shares had sale unchanged at 3s sd. A substantially firmer market existed for Kauri Timbers, for which Is lOd more at 20s Id was paid. Further inquiry at 19s 6d was not met. Apart from a slight easing in New Zealand Newspapers, which were released 3d lower at 32s 6d, and current price transactions in Colonial Sugars and Northern Roller Mills, miscellaneous business was at higher levels. Robinson's Ice advanced 2s on sale at 20s, their par value, while Farmers' Tradings, in two deals, gained sd, the final transaction being made at 7s. British Tobaccos, at 38s 9d, and Consolidated Bricks, at 10s, showed rises of 3d and Id respectively. On the unofficial list the advanco in Woolworths (Sydney) ordinaries was unchecked, a parcel changing hands 6d higher at 78s 6d.
