NEW KEEL YACHT
fine TYPE OF BOAT LAUNCHING NEXT MONTH A new keel yacht, which will undoubtedly be one of the finest craft of her size in Auckland, is neanng completion in the yards of Mr. A. CouMrey at Northcote. Designed by Mr- A. Logan, of Stanley Bay, for Mr. J. Mitchelson, the owner of the Little Jim. which was wrecked on the Great -Barrier Island last season, the new boat has lines which make a definite appeal to \Vith y Tkngth of 42ft. 6in., the boat takes up most of the space m the shed and for this reason a false idea may be gained of her real dimensions. She gives the impression of a similar type of boat to the C class yacht Queenie, but with a great" deal more power. Her graceful bow and counter with overhangs totalling 15ft. give her the characteristics of such well-known Logan boats as the forangi, Rainbow and Ariki. She has not been designed primarily for racing and her interior incorporates the latest ideas for cruising. A wellraised cabin-top. gives ample headroom in the main cabin, which is fitted with four permanent bunks and a large number of lockers. The galley is. situated aft just below the companion way, with a large locker opposite for oilskins. There is a second cabin forward with two bunks, and forward of that a spacious sail locker. Two ports will be fitted in the forward end of the cabin top in place of a skylight. The vaclit will have the latest Bermuda rig, the sail area being about HoU square feet. She will have no bowsprit and will carry two head sails. It is expected to have the boat launched about the end of next month.
