GENERALLY PINE WEATHER SCATTERED RAIN IN SOOTH The weather report and forecast for N3w Zealand, issued last evening by the Government meteorologist, was as follows:—Pressure is still high to the north of New Zealand, hut the first - part of an extensive and vigorous westerlv depression is crossing the South Island. The indications are for northwesterly to westerly winds, moderate to strong generally, and in places reaching Tf gale force. Seas rough south of Capo Egmont and about Cook and Foveaux Straits, elsewhere moderate. In the eastern Tasman Sea north-westerly to westerly winds, strong in the southern portion, with rough seas, and moderate to fresh in the northern portion with moderate seas. The weather will still be fair to fine in most districts, with mtid temperatures. There will be some scattered and mainly light rain in western districts from Taranaki southward and in the southern portions of the South. Island.
