SHOP RANSACKED
BURGLARY AT TOKOROA STOCK WORTH £7O STOLEN [by tklkgrafh—OWN' correspondent] PUTARURU, Friday About £7O worth of tobacco, cigarettes, chocolates and clothing was stolen from tho store of Mrs. V. Z. J. Cole at Tokoroa, 14 miles south of Putaruru, last night. A benzine pump was broken open and nine gallons of petrol was taken, so it is assumed that the thief or thieves arrived by ear. The store, which is isolated, was entered by breaking a window at the rear and was thoroughly ransacked, the entire stock of tobacco and cigarettes being cleared. There was no one sleeping on the premises and the burglary was not known until 3.30 this morning. The door of Mr. A. Sloper's butchery shop, 100 yards awav, was also broken open. The till wu| tried, but it had been left empty. Nothing in the shop was disturbed.
