Pilcher. of Invewargill. defeated Mrs. W. A. Scott, of Timaru. 6 and 5. MANAWATU LADIES' MATCHES [by telegraph—pbess association] PALMERSTON NORTH, Friday In the Manawatu ladies' golf championship, Miss M Garner (Manawatu) beat Miss M Guy (Manawatu), 2 up. Miss J. Soring (Manawatu) won Uje Ekstedt Handicap Cup, beating Mrs. Broderick (Wanganui), 2 up. The Manawatu handicap match wu won by Miss K. C. Cruickshank (Mftjteiv ton), who defeated Mrs. D. O. Williams (Manawatu), 5 and 4. in the final. WHAKATANE TOURNEY [by telegraph—own correspondent] WHAKATANE. Friday The semi-finals and finals of the ladies' open golf tournament were played on the Mokorua Club's links to-day in beautiful weather. Semi-final: A. section—Mrs. tlnnes beat Mrs. Sloane. Mrs. Newman beat Mis* Reid. B section—Miss Brown (Te Puke) beat Miss Hill. Mrs. Rangi beat Mrs. Reardon. Finals: A section—Mrs. Innes beat Mrs. Newman at the 20th. B section—Miss Brown beat Mrs. Rangi. In the final of the A section Mrs. Innes had a lead of four up at on« Btnge, Mrs. Newman making the game all square at the ISth NORTHERN WAIROA CLUB The following players qualified after the second round of the Northern Wairoa Golf Club's championship:—J.
