BARDIC CHAIR
WELSH 'COMMUNITY'S (SIFT
The handsome bardic chair which is to be provided by Welshmen of New Zealand for the Eisteddfod in Carnarvon, Wales, next year, has been completed by the Maori carver, Mr. T. Hibberley, of Wellington. The chair is at present on exhibition in Wellington, and it is hoped' to show it in Auckland , also before forwarding it to Wales. ' i
The chair is made of fine New Zealand woods, and is similar in its general shape to the one presented to Lord Bledisloe by the South Island Maoris. The arms and legs are carved in Maori designs, and on the back is a Welsh inscription, referring to the great national festival. The honour of providing the bardic chair for the Eisteddfod is very keenly sought bv Welsh communities in different countries of the world, and the New Zealand Welsh community has waited for the opportunity for four fears.
